Getting started with holiday photos

I already did the Naughty and Nice photo shoot in honor of Christmas.  I also have some clothes and photo ideas and plenty of days to shoot the other dolls in scenes.  I'm working on that along with working on a diorama/living room for the dolls to sit in and be comfortable while they wait for me to interact with them.

I took some photos of the family I used in my first diorama.  A few are below and I am adding others to the Photo Shoots page.  I have to credit discovering the matching sweaters to Vanessa at Van's Doll Treasures.  I saw the post and literally headed out to the store.  Great tip as I was working on making sweaters from socks.

Mom and the girls

I bought the wreath for $1.00 and it had a large red bird in it.  I cut it out and used it for photos with Komi (a 16" Tonner doll).

I hope you're enjoying getting ready for the holidays.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Isha Has Arrived

Ever since I discovered Fashion Royalty dolls (two months ago), I have been on a quest to find and get all of the ones I really like.  Of course, I have my cost limits so although some are available, I have to wait until someone is desperate enough to sell what I want for what I want to pay.

Well, after watching and waiting, I found Purple Passion Isha.  I think she's perfect just the way she is.   So I grabbed her up as soon as the price dropped.  I took some photos of her visiting with Adele (I plan to change her name) in my quick set up photo area.

Adele is in a blue jumpsuit I made. I purchased a black 1/6 Action Figure suit (got the idea from the Roville blog), which Isha is wearing.

The girls are chatting about the items on the display shelves.  They like my taste.

The girls are reading my blog.  They're hoping to get lots of time on the photo shoot page.
They appreciate your stopping by to see them.

I was making a skirt that ended up being a cute, strapless, short dress.  Right after I tried it on Kyori, I had a brilliant idea.  While at the thrift store yesterday, I stumbled upon two vintage looking dresses just in time for the holidays.  I'll show you the red one later in a Christmas scene, but the white one popped in my head and I though "Naughty and Nice", so I did another quick photo shoot.  It's on my Photo Shoots page if you'd care to stop by.
Thank you so much for checking out today's post.  I'll see you on the next one!

Shopping finds

I have a shopping habit I need to get under control.  But, hey, if I'm saving money at the thrift store, how can I pass it up?  I found a few more items which will appear in some dioramas.

First, I found some great picture frames that are the perfect size (1.5 x 2 inches) for some photos.  I only paid $.99 for all 5.  Great deal! Right?

Oh!  And check out these napkin rings.  I feel a stool, ottoman or small table hidden in them.  I just have to let the imagination flow.  It will come to me.

Right after I bought this shelf (which needs to be painted or stained) for $.99, I saw the same one on that online auction shop for $5.00, plus shipping.  You may not be able to see it from this angle, but it's a graduated shelf, so it's deeper on the bottom and the depth decreases on each higher shelf.  I have some lovely items to put in it.

And the votive chair, which will receive a paint job and upholstered cushion.  I may have to put that off until Spring for a backyard scene.

Those are my latest finds for now.  I also did a photo shoot, so if you have a minute, please drop by the Photo Shoots page and check them out. Thanks for stopping by.

New Clothes for the Smaller Girls and a New Page

I recently ordered some clothes for my smaller (4 - 4.5 inch) girls.  They came from China and took a few weeks to arrive.  I thought it was pretty funny that the packets they came in describes them as rubber bands.  Is that why the cost can be so low?  Hmmm....

This is the packaging.

I tried a few on the girls and they fit okay.  I'm just not so thrilled that the shirts are a little short for my taste.  I would never have dressed my little girls in such short shirts and I don't understand why the shirts are short.  But, hey, you get what you pay for.  Right?

I'll still try to make more clothes, but at least the girls have plenty of options.

As I make clothes and some new dioramas, I love to take pictures.  So, I will be sharing some of them, so I'm adding a Photo Shoots page.  At least I think that's what I'll call it.  I don't have a better name right now.  I can always rename it later if I come up with something better.  Now, some may be a little suggestive or sexy, but not over the top.  I can save those on a Flickr album or something.  I'm not really a good photographer, but once in a while I can think of or catch a good shot.  We'll see.

My Prettie Girls

Today, after weeks of waiting, I have finally received my Prettie Girls.  They are lovely.  I do think, however, their joints are not quite as nice as they could be, but they do bend, which is what I like.  I will either get over it or they will live in long sleeves and pants.  Yes, even in the Summer.

I prefer my dolls to have seating when they are out of the box (unless they are my displayed Barbie dolls which are in cases and on stands), so I have to hurry up and finish making some new sofas and chairs.  I may review what I like and don't like about my dolls once they are out of the box.  One of my favorite bloggers at Roville gave me some good ideas about clothing options, especially for shoes.  I think they have flatter feet, which is so good for standing them up on their own.  So high cost, yet convenient, auction site, here I come with a new search!

While it's not the best pictures, here are pictures I took of the girls as soon as they arrived today.

Welcome to your new home, Girls!

Ultra Modern Seating? Maybe.

Today, I was all over the place.  I paused on the doll bed I'm making for my new diorama, The Little Girls' room.  I was going to make a crib too, but while cutting wood during my first day of using the table saw, I had a little accident and a piece of wood flew and hit me in the stomach.  Needless to say, I'm scared to go back to the saw, so I will be using things I'm not afraid of for a little while.

But I digress and move on to my supposedly ultra modern seating, which could work, but I think I may need to do more to it.  While looking for a straight block of styrofoam, I found a piece that looks like it has seats throughout.  So I tried to make it look good.  See?  There is a sofa type area next to a single seat area.  Very modern, right?

The girls tried it out for me.  I guess it looks okay, at least for some posing, but maybe not so much for a real room set up.

Well, it's time for one of my favorite shows and, after a day mostly dedicated to pretending I could make an ultra modern seating area from Styrofoam, I guess I can use a break.
