Several New Purchases - Lots of Barbie Furniture

I have been on a spending spree.  I've been ordering on Facebook, Ebay and the thrift store. I bought a new Power Team male, a couple of baby walkers, a couple of strollers and a beauty salon.  I bought a few other items, like some drinking glasses (I will be making some drinks) and Rement baby items.

What's most noteworthy is that I have been at Toys R Us at least twice while they had a sale on Barbie items.  So I bought several of those 'starter' furniture items they are selling.  I really like them and, since I have several apartments to make, I really need some bathtubs and sinks.  At some point I will make some sink & cabinet set ups on my own, but I'm not opposed to just painting an already made product to fit my needs.

Here's my score:

A day bed, two sink & toilet combos, a refrigerator, three tubs, one sink & oven combo and one full bathroom combo.

A washer & dryer combo (just right for an apartment, especially if there are children), two table and chair sets for dining and (yes) another refrigerator, but different from the other one.

I also bought this dress and shoes combination (so I could spend $35 and get $10 off).  I tried the shoes on one of the FR girls and because they are so soft and flexible, they went right on her feet (where can I get more of those Barbie shoes?).

I'm always looking to see if there are new MiWorld sets, which work well with the fashion dolls.  I found two new sets for make up and finally bough the Mrs. Fields set I've been seeing (of course, I probably forgot I already bought one and just have it stored in the food items bag downstairs).
I know, I have to stop shopping so much, but I will actually use these items. So it's money well spent.  ;-)

Leera and Quinn - Two new repainted dolls

I have been on a repaint kick.  I have two artists I have used so far and their work has been lovely.  I sent two SIS dolls to Donna at Fantasy Dolls by D, along with two pictures of repainted dolls I found on the internet to show her what I like and she did even better.  I love the way the repainting turned out.

So, without further ado, I introduce you to Leera and Quinn.

 This is Leera.

 This is Quinn.
It was too cold for us outside yesterday, so we had to bring the photo shoot indoors.
I have been waiting to take some shots with these jackets and the bike - which I borrowed from my Harley Davidson Barbie who is always sitting posed on it.  She's probably a little upset with me right now since I never photograph my display dolls and it is, after all, her bike.  So maybe I should have taken some pictures of her on her own bike.  But, hey, I gave it back to her.

Jye - My Beautiful Partially Repainted Doll

Since I discovered dolls from Integrity Toys last year, I have been buying some.  Because they cost so much (well, much more than most Mattel dolls), I have to really like them or see potential in them to buy them.  While checking out dolls over the year, I came across one whose sculpt I fell in love with, but was hard to find - Perk Colette.  The few times I did come across her, I could not bring myself to shell out $200-$300.  I just couldn't do it.  So I waited.

I was finally lucky and jumped on a great deal from a fellow member of a doll group on Facebook.  There was still the side-eye issue to deal with, but I quickly got it fixed.  I sent her to the talented Laurie Lenz to get her eyes straightened.  While I was at it, I had her eye color and eyebrows changed too.  Her lips were not repainted as I like them 'as is.'

Of course, 'Colette' was just her identifier.  Her real name is Jye (pronounced like 'tie', but with a 'J').  And here she is...

Isn't she lovely?  She was worth every penny.

Thanks for stopping by to meet the lovely Jye.  ~ Jaye (spelled like Jye, but with an 'a' and pronounced 'J')

Ember's New Bedroom

I think I'm stoked on completing this townhome for Ember.  After some intense work and some ingenuity (who knew I had some of that?), I finished her bedroom today.  It's a small townhome, so Ember's bed is not huge, but the room is comfy.  Since she doesn't have a man right now, Ember's fine with the size of the bed and the room.

Here is the bedroom:

Ember is straightening some finishing touches before she hits the bed to settle down for the evening.

Then she checks on her scarf to be sure snug and to get a glimpse of herself.

Since she is going to start her business, Ember spends a lot of time on her computer setting up her business plan, making contacts, and doing some research.

Well, Ember is comfortable now and intensely focused on working.  I guess we can leave her alone so she can focus.

Bed and hutch - repainted Barbie items.  There is a bed ruffle that matches the pillows, but I didn't make it longer than the comforter.
Linens, pillows, curtains, shelf unit in the hutch, and tables - made by me.
Artwork - Photos from a jewelry calendar for 2014.
Lamp - Vase with a napkin ring and submersible light (held up by cut and pushed in foam board).

Ember's New Living Room

I'd like to introduce you to Ember Winters.  Ember is a mother to one daughter, Erwyn, who you'll meet later.  She is a widow who lost her husband a little over a year ago to a car accident.  That has made her decide to give up her position as a sales manager working for someone else and start her dream business - a modeling agency.  She's just starting out and moved back East to be closer to the city and her family.

Ember is working on decorating the townhome she recently purchased.  It's not large, but it does have two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, bathroom and an extra room downstairs she will use as her office.  She is hoping her business will grow to the point where she can get a larger office in an office building, but for now, a home office will work just fine.

Here is Ember's new living room:

Items in the Room:
  • Loveseat, chair, table and shelf unit - Ikea
  • Curtains and flooring - made by me (floor is decorative paper)
  • Lamp - ornament with a submersible light hanging in it (Thanks to Joanne Thomas at My Little Big Chair )
  • Artwork - photo from a jewelry calendar, black & white items are buttons
  • Items on the shelves - painted and/or glued by me.
  • The elephant is a plastic toy animal painted (I need more animals - paint is wonderful)
I'm really enjoying being challenged with decorating rooms, finding lighting solutions, and trying to work with smaller spaces.  I'll show you more of the townhouse as Ember finishes her decorating.  The house looks like a construction zone right now, but it will look good when she's done.  Her decorator is pretty good, so I've heard. :-)

New Chairs and the Hot New Guys

For future events, like weddings and fashion shows, I decided to seek out some 1/6 scale folding chairs.  They are easy to set up and easy to store.  I found them on Ebay for less than $4 each, but since then they have dropped to less than $3.  :-(  I wish I had caught the better deal, but I am happy with the chairs.

See how nice they are:

Then Drexel and Zenia decided to try them out.
Drexel tried to take advantage of the opportunity to flirt while he was there, but Zenia was not in the mood.
The guys who have been here a while seem just as anxious as the ladies to get coupled up.  Which reminds me.  The ladies, who usually occupy the living room all by themselves, all left to enjoy the warmer weather today.  So Chase popped in to chill all by himself.
Chase (on speaker phone): Can you believe it?  I'm finally getting a chance to kick back and relax in here. Those women, gorgeous as they are, run everything around here.  I didn't even invite the other guys just to have it all to myself. (Chase hears a knock at the door.) I have to go.  Someone is here.

Chase hangs up and looks out the window.  He sees two men he hasn't seen before, but he's not surprised.  He had heard there would be some new men joining the group, so he goes to greet them.

Chase: It looks like you guys arrived in one piece.  I also see you found the clothes Miss Jaye pulled out for you.  Those pants fit because of me.  They were specially ordered for us taller guys.
The guy with the curly hair says:  Yes, these are comfortable.  So this is where we're going to be living now, huh?
Chase:  Well, for a little while we can sit here in this room.  The ladies will be back and then we'll have to go to another space.

Curly haired guy:  Well, I guess we should sit for a while.
He and the other guy who has been quiet sit down.

Chase:  I'm Chase and you with the curly hair must be Bryce and you (he motions to the quiet guy) must be Jun.  I heard Miss Jaye describing you as she picked names.
Jun: Nice to meet you Chase.  So I'm Jun?  Nice name.  I like it.  So do you like it here?
Chase:  I sure do.  Now that you guys have arrived, Miss Jaye can focus on finishing the other living spaces.  I hear she is designing apartments.  And, we'll all get our assigned lives and start living them soon.  It's so exciting!

Chase:  Speaking of Miss Jaye, I think you will need to brace yourself for a haircut and restyle, Bryce.  Miss Jaye was this close to sending me to live elsewhere.  She didn't like my hair because it was too long and wasn't sure she wanted to invest some clothes that fit me.  But then, she gave me a hair cut and restyle and, voila!, I get to stay.
Bryce reaches up to his hair:  Well, I'm not parting with the 'fro.  Miss Jaye may need to just call this a pit stop.  I'll leave before I let the 'fro go. No way, no how, not for anything.

Isis walks into the room.  Isis:  Hi, Chase.  Are these the new guys?
Chase:  Yes, they are.  Jun and Bryce, this is Isis. Bryce has the curly hair.

Isis: It's nice to meet you both.  Welcome! The other ladies and I just came back for a quick change before we leave again.  But I heard someone in here, so I wanted to stop and see what was happening.
Bryce and Jun both respond that they are happy to meet Isis.
Isis:  I can't stay, but I'll see you around.
Isis leaves to rejoin the girls.

Jun and Bryce both turn and look at each other.
Jun:  Well, I don't know about you, but that sealed it for me.  I'm staying.  Miss Jaye can shave me bald if she wants.

Bryce jumps out the chair and starts to head out the room.
Chase:  Where are you going?
Bryce:  Off to find some clippers.  If the rest of the ladies are half as hot as that one, my 'fro can go.

Chase (laughing):  Well, I don't think there's a rush.  You should wait so you can be sure the cut is to her liking.  Just have a seat and enjoy this space while it's empty.  We'll have some male bonding time.
Bryce takes Chase's advice and has a seat.

Chase:  Well, folks, it looks like a woman can change a man's resolve.  Hopefully the next time you see me there will be a lovely lady on my arm.  A couple of kids would be fine too (hint, hint, Miss Jaye).  Speaking of which, on behalf of Miss Jaye, thank you for stopping by.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

I have an addiction to shopping.  Fortunately, my addiction involves clearance items and only getting a deal.  I cringe to tell you that my habit was so bad, that my daughters found it useful.  I would buy so much stuff I swore I would need one day, they would always have a plethora of items from which to select for last minute gifts.

I finally stopped just buying items (I still have enough pencils, spiral notebooks, and crayons to run my own class and supply the materials to every student) just to have them.  But, of course, putting some focus on living and hangout spaces for my dolls and preparing to form families and friends for future stories, I have to acquire items.  Lately, I've been all over the place, but mostly in pursuit of males.  So I have bought yet more males (yes, even more since my last post) and, because they were such a good deal, 7 more children.

Well, here are my recent purchases:

This guy is a Power Team Elite Soldier.  He's cute.  I like him and his shoes aren't attached.  Quite the catch, he is.

Handsome and articulated cheerleader Ken.  He's been hoping I'd pick him to add to the group.  He finally got his wish.  With so many ladies to choose from, he'll be quite happy here.

Baby Phat Marisa (a side glancer who will need a repaint).  She's pretty.  The ladies already waiting for a guy will kill me if I hook her up too soon, so she'll be waiting a while to date.

Another handsome Power Team Elite guy (Vanessa, I think he looks familiar).  The ladies are getting excited.

The seven new children.  I'm happy that the two little boys look different. They only share a hairstyle.  I hope the red comes off that poor little girl's nose without removing her skin color.  The outfits will work for Halloween (which I have to think about since I hate Halloween).
I have an affinity for giving the dolls their own names.  While many of the existing group members have names, I now have to give all of these new dolls a name.  Did I happen to mention that after much stress over the need for the taller girls to have men and waiting for a decent price, I'm going to purchase Tenzin and Kieron too (Integrity Toys males).  I'll talk about them again later.
For now, I think I can be done with purchasing new dolls and focus on accessories and making clothes.  Progress.... Thank you for stopping by.  See you on the next post. ~ Jaye
