Uh Oh!

It's Friday evening and Henna and Onyx are at Peyton's, waiting for her so they can go out for dinner and drinks.  It's been a busy week for the trio, so they are all anxious to relax and enjoy hanging out with friends.

Onyx:  How long can it possibly take that girl to get ready?  We're not walking the red carpet.
Henna (laughing):  Well you know she's used to that type of life.  Maybe getting dressed needs to be a big production too.
Onyx:  I'm hungry and ready for the booze.  (yelling) For heaven's sake, Peyton, get out here already.
Peyton (yelling from her room):  Okay, okay.  I'm coming.

Peyton finally emerges from her room.

Peyton:  Well, how do I look?
Onyx:  You look just perfect, Ellie Mae.  Dressed just right for wrangling that pig.  In your case, maybe bacon...already cooked.  But you look good.
Peyton:  Ellie Mae.  Really?
Onyx:  That would be about right.
Peyton:  Maybe I should change.
Onyx:  Maybe you should starve.  That's just what you're going to do if you try to change again.  We'll leave you.
Henna:  I have to agree with Onyx on this one.  We need to get going.
Peyton (frowning):  Okay, I'll just grab my shoes and purse and we're off.
Onyx:  You have thirty seconds.  We're walking to the car now.

Peyton, knowing they would leave her, grabs her purse and shoes and heads straight to the door, right behind Henna and Onyx.

When the trio arrives at the restaurant, the hostess shows them to the table.  Henna doesn't go straight to the table and heads to the restroom first.  Instead of sitting down when they get to the table, Onyx thanks the hostess and says they're fine.  She has spotted someone at the next table and wants to talk to Peyton.

Onyx:  Uh oh.  Do you see who I see?
Peyton:  Huh?
Onyx:  Behind us, over my left shoulder.
Peyton:  Uh oh.  Do you think we should get another table?
Onyx:  I don't know.  I just don't want any drama.
Peyton:  We're all adults.
Onyx:  You and I don't even count in this situation.
Peyton (looking over):  Well, we look really suspicious and stupid right now as we've been spotted.  Let's just play it cool, say 'hello' and have a seat.
Onyx:  Okay.

Onyx turns around and heads to take a seat.

Onyx:  Hi, Maurice.
Maurice:  Hey, Ladies.  How are you?  Its' been a while since I've seen you both.
Peyton:  Hi, Maurice.  I hope you're doing well.
Maurice:  I am.  It's good to see you.
Onyx:  Well, we won't keep you.  Enjoy your dinner.
Maurice:  Thank you.  I hope you enjoy yours as well.

Just as Onyx sits down, Henna arrives at the table.  She immediately sees Maurice and Peyton sees her look.  So she touches Henna's arm to get her attention and talk to her.

Peyton:  Hey.  If you want us to leave or get another table, we can do that.
Henna (pausing):  No, we don't have to do that.  I'll be fine.
Peyton:  Well, maybe I should move to the other seat.  That way you won't be facing him.
Henna (smiling): No need for that.  I'll just go say hello, real quick.
Peyton:  Are you sure?  We can just get out of here.
Henna:  Thank you, but I'm sure.  I'll be fine.  No need in pretending I don't see him
Peyton (smiling in a supportive way): Okay, if you insist, but don't feel obligated.
Henna:  I don't. I just want to see how he is.  I'll be fine.  Check out the menu, I'll be back.

Henna heads over to Maurice, who stands up when he sees her coming.

Maurice:  Hi. How are you?
Henna:  Hi.  I'm good...and you?
Maurice:  Good.
Henna:  It's been a while.  It's good to see you.  So, how is business?
Maurice:  It's good seeing you tooBusiness is good.  Really good.  I got a couple more clients and I'm thinking about opening up a gym.  Well not just a gym.  I may have a business partner to do the gym and spa thing.  It could really take off, but we're just in the planning stages.  We'll see.
Henna:  That's great!  I hope it works out for you. (scanning the table) I hope I'm not interrupting dinner.
Maurice:  Not at this moment, I'm just waiting for...

Just then Henna hears a voice behind her and turns.

Kent:  Hey, Henna!  I haven't seen you in a while.  How have you been?
Henna (relieved to see Kent): Hi, Kent!  I'm good.  How are you?
Kent:  Doing great!  You are looking good.  I was just asking Maurice about you.  Of course, I know you haven't been together, but you never know who stays in touch.
Henna:  Oh...well...sometimes you have to give people their space.
Kent: I guess that's right.  It's really good seeing you. I guess you're having dinner here too.
Henna:  Yes, with my friends at the next table.
Kent:  Cool. I love the food.

Henna:  Yes, this dish (pointing to the dish on the table where Maurice was sitting) looks delicious
Kent:  It does.
Henna:  I don't want to keep you or let your food get cold.  I'll let you sit down and get back to it.
Kent:  Oh, I ate already. We're on dessert.
Henna:  Really?  I thought this was...
Kent (laughing): You thought was mine?  Sorry about that.  I was just agreeing the food looks delicious.  I'm at another table.
Henna:  But you came here, I just thought...I thought you were eating with Maurice.
Kent:  No, I saw Maurice earlier and came over to say hi and chat for a minute.  Then I just saw you, so I wanted to come over and say hi to you too.

Kent:  But I do need to get back to my table.  (touching Henna on her arm).  It was really good to see you.  Keep looking good, Lady.  (to Maurice) I'll call you and we'll get together next week.
Maurice:  Alright.  Sounds like a plan.  Talk to ya later.
Kent:  I'll see you.
Henna (feeling lost):  Okay.  See you.

Kent turns and walks away.  Henna turns back to Maurice, but before she can figure out what to say or do, she sees him looking in another direction.  As she turns her head, a woman approaches.

The woman apologizes for taking too long in the restroom. Then she asks if she's interrupting something.  Henna just thinks to herself, "She's so pretty.  Is he seeing her?  Is this who he's having dinner with?"

Maurice:  No, you're not interrupting.  I seem to keep running into people I know this evening.  Let me introduce you.

Peyton:  Are you taking all this in?
Onyx:  How can I miss it?
Peyton:  She must be his dinner date?  Look at her.
Onyx:  You think?
Peyton:  Okay, okay.  I get it.  I'm just, well, feeling like this is awkward?
Onyx:  Henna is about to meet someone her ex-man is dating and YOU'RE feeling awkward?
Peyton:  Yes, that would be correct.
Onyx:  Okay, well, I don't want to miss anything, so let's go back to listeningShhhh...

Maurice:  Chi, this is Henna.  Henna this is Chi.

They shake hands.

Chi: It's nice to meet you, Henna.
Henna: Uh, yes.  It's nice to meet you.
Chi:  So how do you two know each other?
Henna (surprised at the question):  Umm, well, we used to...
Maurice:  We used to date, a while ago. I think I may have mentioned that once.
Chi:  Oh, yes.  Now I remember.  Well, I apologize.  I do think Maurice mentioned you before, but maybe once.  I don't think he told me how beautiful you are.
Henna:  Thank you.  I haven't spoken to Maurice in a while, so I haven't had the chance to hear about you.  YOU are beautiful.
Chi:  Thank you.  That's very kind of you.
Maurice:  Well, I think maybe we should eat before this food grows icicles.
Henna:  I'm sorry.  I didn't mean to keep you.  I just wanted to say hi.  Uh, my friends are waiting and I know they're hungry.  Well, enjoy your dinner.
Chi:  You too.  Again, it's nice to have met you.
Henna:  Thank you.  It was nice seeing you, Maurice.  Have a good night.

Henna turns to head to the table.

Peyton:  Now should we leave?
Onyx: Let's just see how Henna's feeling first.

Maurice ensures Chi is seated.

Maurice:  I'm sorry if that was weird.  I hope that wasn't too uncomfortable.
Chi: It's okay. You had a life before you met me.
Maurice:  It's been over for a while.
Chi:  It's really okay.  I'm not that insecure.  She's very pretty, but I'm here with you, she's not.  I'm sure if you wanted to be with her, you would be.
Maurice:  I don't want to be with her. I'm where I want to be with the person I want to be with.
Chi:  I know.  So let's just enjoy our dinner and not act like this is an issue.  It's not.
Maurice:  That's why I like you.  Let's eat.

Onyx:  Honey, are you okay?  We can go.
Peyton:  Yes, we can find another place to eat or grab something and go to my place.
Henna (sighing):  No.  No.  Well, we can go, but I'd like two shots first...for the road.  Back to back shots and then we're out.
Onyx:  Okay.  Two shots for you.  I'll have water so I can drive.
Henna:  I drove.
Onyx: I know, but I'll drive us back to my place.  You can stay at my place this evening, we can talk, just hang out, play games or something.  Have as much as you want, Honey.
Peyton:  We're here for you.
Henna:  Thanks.

Henna gets her two shots.  Peyton and Onyx stay sober because they are worried about her.  They leave and stop to grab take out, then go back to Peyton's place where they watch TV.  Henna stays at Peyton's for the night and Onyx goes home.  Henna is grateful for her friends and their willingness to being there for her.  The night didn't turn out as she had expected, but she still spent it with good friends.

Just Us Guys

It's Sunday, late afternoon, and Grayson invited Parker, Craig and Chase over to watch football.  He thought it would be a good idea for them to hang out.  The game will be starting shortly, so before it starts, everyone is in the living room talking.

Grayson:  I'm thinking about upgrading the television again.  I'd like an even bigger screen with more definition.
Parker:  That sounds good.  Have you started shopping for a new one yet?
Grayson:  No. First I need to talk Cyann into it.  I was kind of hoping she would try to buy another piece of furniture.  Then she can't say anything about my purchase.
Craig:  So you're scheming, huh?
Grayson:  I'd call it planning.

Everyone laughs.

Craig:  I'd love a new set too.  But our place is so small and with the baby coming, we are trying to save.  I want Avery to be able to quit her job and I think we'll need a bigger place.
Grayson:  I know how that is.
Chase:  I don't, but I hope to one day.
Grayson:  Don't rush it.  I love my family, but things were easier to buy before I got married.  Speaking of which, how are things with you and Ember, Parker?

Parker:  Things are going very well.  The next step is to start spending with Erwyn, you know the three of us, and see how that goes.  I'm a little nervous.  I want her to like me.
Grayson:  I'm pretty sure she does already.  As long as you're good to her and her mother, it should be fine.
Chase:  I don't know much about the situation, but all you can do is give it your all.
Parker:   I agree.  I'll see how it goes.  I'm very hopeful.  It's different when I'm just the nice man who she sees some times.  But to be the man who now spends time with her mother.
Craig: And who could end up being her father.
Parker: Yes, possibly.  To be that man, it's different.
Grayson:  True, but Erwyn's a sweetheart.

Cyann:  She sure is.

Cyann has just walked into the room.  All of the men stand up and say 'hello', except Grayson.

Grayson:  Hey!  What are you guys doing?  You're making me look bad.
Cyann:  They're being gentlemen.  Make a note, Honey.
Grayson:  I live here.  Standing up only happens now when we're out.  I know these guys don't stand when they're home and their lady walks in.
Craig (smiling):  You got us.
Cyann (laughing):  Well gentlemen, I appreciate your standing on my account, but please, have a seat and relax.  Gray, a word, please.

Grayson excuses himself so he can talk to Cyann.

Cyann:  I'm running out to pick up the food I ordered for your little get together.  Brooklyn's finally sleep or I would have brought her out here.  Brenna's watching TV, but I told her if she needs something to come see you.  I shouldn't be long. (noticing Grayson looking down at her clothes).
Honey, are you listening?
Grayson:  Uhuh. That cute little outfit is just speaking a little louder than you are.
Cyann:  Focus.  I'm leaving, I'll be back soon.
Grayson:  I love summer and the skimpy things you wear to stay cool.  Eye candy.
Cyann:  Okay, then.

Cyann turns to walk away, then she feels Grayson's hand on her rear end.

Cyann:  What are you doing?
Grayson:  Copping a feel or did I not do it right?  I must be out of practice.
Cyann:  Ha ha. You have issues, I'll be back.

Cyann leaves and Grayson sits back down.

Craig:  So you let Cyann cut her hair?
Chase:  She had such lovely long hair.  But I think that hair cut is becoming.
Grayson:  Let her cut it?  As if I could stop her.
Craig:  Man, you need to have control, just like I have in my house.  If Avery wanted to cut her hair, I would tell her no and she had better listen.  I'm the man and that's that.
Chase:  That's interesting
Grayson:  Is that so?  Well, I'll make sure to ask her how that whole control thing is goingChase, he's full of it.  Don't let him fool you.
Parker:  Craig, you know darn good and well Avery would put you right in your place if she heard you talking like that.
Craig:  That's exactly why no one is going to say anything.  What happens here, stays here.  Right?
Grayson:  Yep.  You're talking tough behind her back, but I bet if she were here, you'd be all 'Baby, you can do whatever you want'.

Parker:  Do you do the same thing?
Grayson:  Well, of course.  We need to live in our fantasies somehow.  This is the man's circle.  It's just us guys.  We can pretend we're in charge when it's just us.  You'll see how that goes once you're on real lock down with Ember.
Parker: I don't think I'll need to do that.
Craig:  Give him time.  He's still in the delusional honeymoon phase of their relationship.  Let him enjoy it before reality kicks in.
Chase:  Mmmm...I have to agree with that.  I love Chambray and sometimes she can be assertive, but I know when not to push it.
Grayson:  See, another man who gets it.  Well, Cyann is picking up our food.  But I see no reason we can't get started with the drinking.  What can I get you guys?

Grayson stands up to take orders and head to the kitchen.

Parker:  Beer, please.
Craig:  Me too.  Thanks.
Chase:  Bourbon on the rocks, please.
Grayson:  I'll be right back. I think I should grab a folding table too so we can have some of the food out here and more easily accessible.
Craig:  Sounds good, Man.  I can help you.

Grayson heads to the kitchen and Craig follows him to get the table. It looks like they should have a good time watching their game, what with food and drinks to enjoy.

Maryanna it is! (Musings of a Blogger)

As you know, the newest curvy lady in the house had not been named.  But I was reading comments from the post and Muff told me she looks like Maryanne from Gilligan's island.  So, I then had a name for our new lady, Maryanna.  I had to add the 'a' and change it a little, but I like her name.  Thanks, Muff!

I'm debating whether I want to try to alter the dress she came with, but with other options for her to wear, it's not a big deal.  I changed Maryanna's hair a little, painted her nails and added a little lipstick. She also loves onyx, so now she has an onyx ring surrounded by gold.  Of course I re-dressed her and snapped just a few photos.  As much as I wanted her, I didn't expect to like her so much.  I'm glad I bought her.

Here are a few photos...

Isn't she pretty?  She's going to make a lovely model.  Vedette is so proud of herself for suggesting it.

By the way, I broke down and bought another curvy girl for her body and Tandra's niece.  They should be here next week.

More Curves in the House (Musings of a Blogger)

So let me start by saying, when Mattel introduced the Madam Lavinia, I had to have her.  I mean an articulated curvy fashion doll!  Who could pass that up?  She was not inexpensive, yet I bought two. One to play, one to display.  But now Mattel has put out a new, and way less expensive articulated curvy doll in their '#The Barbie Look Collection.

She's only $29.99 and there was free shipping.  I controlled myself and only bought one, although I tempted to get another one AND the other new doll in the same line wearing that cute sweater dress and looking so much like Jayna (Pool Chic).  Plus, I can see Tandra's niece in her, so I may just have to do it.

Anyway, the newest lady arrived today.  So it's time to welcome her to the group.

I'm loving the accessories.  The dress fabric is lovely.  I'm not too thrilled with the sleeves, but up close, I think she looks good.  Of course there is no waiting to take her out of the box, so let's get to it.

I decided I could take a few minutes to let her speak to me.  She needs to tell me who she is and what career she has.  This could take a while, so I pulled out a sofa and let her have a seat.

Me: Tell me all about yourself.
New Lady:  Well, I'm happy you invited me to be here.  This place looks so comfortable.  I'm not too sure yet about what I'd like to do.  I'm pretty open to anything.  I would, however, like to be stylish.  I love my curves.  I love fashions, but nothing garish, of course.
Me:  That makes sense.  I think I can see that in you.

Oh, boy!  I think it is becoming a custom around here for someone to show up each time a new resident arrives.  Here comes Vedette.

Vedette:  Hi! Welcome!  I'm glad you're here.  I just wanted to be sure you know at least one resident here who can show you around.
New Lady:  Hello.  Thank you so much for making me feel welcome.
Vedette:  Of course. We've all been talking and we think we should extend our hospitality when someone new gets here.  Besides, you look like someone we'd all like.  So, what's your name?
New Lady:  I don't know yet.  I've just been chatting with the mayor, I think.  She and I are working that out right now.
Vedette:  Good.

Vedette:  I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to be of some assistance.  Can I stay while you chat and then I can show our new resident around?
Me:  Sure, please have a seat.
Vedette:  Good, because I have an idea.  Thank you so much.

Me:  I'm glad you have an idea.  What is it?
Vedette:  First of all, I'm the first curvy girl to have arrived around here.  I love that you have spoiled me by giving me my own wardrobe.  You're such a sweetheart.  Thank you!
Me:  Awww!  Thank you!
Vedette:  Now, having said that, you also have not made a lot of clothes for me lately.  Yes, there are lots of pants and skirts, but shirts right now are limited.
Me (frowning):  I know I've been busy.  I'm sorry.
Vedette: No, I didn't mean it that way.  I'm not blaming you, I know there are events to execute and only one of you.  We out number you by, well all of us to one.  My point is, I have a solution that will help a few of us.
Me:  Yes?
Vedette:  I think you should have Leera take over designing clothes for us curvy ladies.  Make my new friend a curvy size model and help Ember expand her modeling roster.  Maybe that will give you some incentive to make more fashions.

New Lady: I love that idea.  I love fashions and who doesn't like wearing new ones.  That feels right to me.
Vedette: I'm glad you like that idea.  It just came to me.  Plus, I'm looking forward to more clothes.  I'm sure you can help inspire them.  And us curvy girls need to look good too.
Me:  I agree.  That's why you're both here.
New Lady:  I am totally in for that idea.  Where do I sign up?

Me:  I have to talk it over with Leera and you will have to interview with Ember.  It's her agency, so she needs to be sure she can get you gigs.
Vedette:  I think it will work out.  You're awesome.  I know you can pull it together.
New Lady:  You really have confidence in her, huh?
Vedette:  I sure do.  I'm an event planner with my own business.  Miss Jaye's great at placement.  You'll be very happy.
New Lady:  I'm so looking forward to it.
Me:  Well, then that's settled.  Well except your name.  I need some time to noodle over it.

Vedette:  Speaking of noodles, are you hungry.  I know you've had a long trip.
New Lady:  I sure am.
Vedette:  I know a place we can get something to eat and some drinks.  Drinks with a kick if you're in.
New Lady:  I'm in!

They get up to leave, but I stop them because I need to take at least one photo.  They both seemed happy to pose.  The new lady because she plans to work on her modeling looks and Vedette because she knows she's sexy, she just doesn't flaunt it.

Yep.  I may just have to break down and get another curvy girl and Tandra's niece (from Brazil).  The addiction is real.

Baby Walkers (Musings of a Blogger)

Just a quick post as I work on stock for the baby boutique.  I finished up the walkers, which I wanted to look as good as and close to life like as possible.  I love the way they came out.  So I'm just sharing the walkers with you.

I'm hoping all the stock at the baby boutique will look as good.
