We're Live!

Marisol and Rowan are at their first live appearance on Good Morning, Good People.  Of course they are very excited and nervous.  They know the products and items they will be covering and have been rehearsing for close to a week.  There are cue cards to help them along, but, mostly they will have to work through some key points.  The segment is 15 minutes, and they have a lot to cover in that time period, but they are confident they can do it.

Because they have not yet hired a new employee, but have a position posted, they posted a sign for days before the segment that they would open later.  There is a sign on the door right now stating the opening time for the day.  While they know it is a loss of revenue for The Flavor Café for the day, they are getting paid for segment and getting free advertising, which will more than make up for the loss.

As soon as they hire at least one part-time employee and, possibly, an employee just to help cover that morning, they will be okay.  More employees may even mean keeping the café open longer hours and on through the weekend.  They aren't sure yet, but they are hopeful.

So they are about to start and I don't want to miss a thing. So let's see what's happening.

Peyton (speaking into her headset):  Is the crew ready?  We'll need them to move fast to change out the items on this table during the close shots?  Make sure they follow the line up correctly.  We don't need any mistakes throwing off the segment....Okay.  Just check.  I don't see anyone headed out here yet.  I need to see bodies right now, please.  Thank you.


Peyton:  Are you ready, Ladies.  I'm sure you'll be fine.  Just think like you're talking to your family and friends or just one customer at a time.  Don't worry about the cameraman as he moves around, sometimes we need closer shots.  Pretend he's not there.
Rowan:  Okay.  I'll try to do that.
Marisol:  I'm a little nervous, but I'm sure we'll get through it.
Peyton:  The camera will get close during the table updates so the team isn't caught on camera.  So those are your extra chat moments like we discussed. Relax, breathe, pace yourself and have fun with it.  Okay?
Rowan and Marisol:  Okay.

Peyton backs away using her fingers for countdown based on the countdown she's getting in her headphones.  Now they are live!


Rowan:  Good morning, good people.  I'm Rowan and this is Marisol from The Flavor Café and we're happy to be here with you this morning.  
Marisol:  Yes, good morning.
Rowan:  We have lots to show you today with a mix of foods and kitchen items to help you serve yourself, family and friends some delicious food.



 Rowan:  Summer's coming to an end, but there's still plenty of time to enjoy being in your backyard while cooking a delicious and satisfying meal for your family.  Here are a couple of quick ideas.  Oven fried chicken and easy mac and cheese.  Prep time is 20 minutes. While you're boiling the macaroni, you simply coat the chicken with flour and bread crumbs, seasoned to taste, spray oil on the pan and the top of the chicken and into the oven it goes. 
Marisol:  That does sound easy.  Is the mac and cheese that simple too?
Rowan:  Absolutely.  Simply mix flour, milk and melted butter, pour and mix in the macaroni, pour the macaroni in the pan in layer, adding macaroni and then the cheese, with cheese as the last layer and put it in the oven with the chicken.  Then you just go play while you wait to enjoy your meal


Marisol:  What about that other plate of deliciousness?  It looks simple.
Rowan:  It is.  Veggies and roughage along with protein.  An egg fried sunny side up, some Canadian bacon, or turkey bacon if that's your preference, or even pork roll with broccoli or another green veggie.  You're ready to enjoy in just 15 minutes, which includes 5 minutes of prep time. Oh, and some people really like the extra flavor ketchup brings to their eggs.  Add a little to enhance the flavor.
Marisol:  That sounds convenient and delicious.  But I also think if you have time, you can include some warm bread with it.  Maybe some easy to bake rolls.
Rowan:  That sounds great.  Do we have some and how did you make them?
Marisol:  As a matter of fact I do.  Let me show you.

Marisol:  You wouldn't believe how easy it is to bake these rolls in the convenient little oven.  It works great for smaller items you want to bake, cook or heat up without turning on your larger oven.  It saves energy too.
Rowan:  That does sound convenient all around.  Where can I get one?
Marisol: It's made TRe-mentous and it is just perfect.  Lots of heating and temperature option.  It's available at most major stores.  To find out where, check online or call your local store.
Rowan:  I'll have to do that.

Marisol:  Look at how fresh they look.  I even added little faces.  The children will get a kick out of that.  I know my boys do.
Rowan:  I think it's so cute and creative.  Let's show how this all looks together on a plate for serving.

Rowan:  Now that's a meal that hard to turn down.
Marisol:  It sure is.  So, Rowan.  Now that we've had dinner, what's next?

 Rowan:  You know, Marisol, I was just thinking about that.  Every is usually looking forward to dessert.  I'm thinking we should talk about that next.
Marisol:  Are there easy options?
Rowan:  I think we can show some easy options, but I can't help but throw in one option that may take a little work, but is a classic favorite.  I do recommend getting a recipe that you like, a there are several available.
Marisol:  I can hardly wait.  You're building up suspense here.  What's classic, needs a recipe, takes work and I'm hoping is worth it.

Rowan:  Apples, baked in a crust, also known as apple pie.  A classic favorite.
Marisol:  I love it!  I'm sure with a paring tool, it will take no time at tall to prepare your apples.  That large knife looks a little intimidating.
Rowan (laughing):  What can I say?  I'm daring with time on my hands.  What about you, Marisol?

Marisol:  You know I have three boys, so my time is limited.  I'm sure several of you out there know what I'm talking about.  So I need some quick dessert options.  I recommend one of these delicious jelly filled pastries.  The packaging keeps them fresh, just be sure to check the date before purchasing.  Let's cut one open to see all of that fruit tucked inside.

Marisol:  I think my stomach is starting to growl over this.
Rowan:  It does look delicious, but I think I have a competitor over here.

 Rowan:  Although I would definitely opt for your cake Marisol, I think this delicious loaf cake is an easy dessert option.  It may not be oozing with fruit, but it is exuding flavor.
Marisol:  I love loaf cake.
Rowan:  You would enjoy this one.  Baked and packaged fresh and great for freezing.
Marisol:  Yes.  Speaking of which, let's talk about how to best store your food for later consumption.

 Marisol:  Here are some great storage options, plastic wrap which works well for individually wrapping food. That way you can pull out portions as needed.  You can also use parchment paper to wrap, which works well for freezer to over reheating.  It also helps keep your pans cleaner, longer.

 Marisol:  There are several brands on the market, but it's best if you do your research to see what consumers are saying.  These two are among the highest rated brands.  You know, Rowan, I think we covered some good options.  But I'm thinking something is missing that we don't want to forget about.

Rowan:  I'm right with you on that, Marisol.  We need something to wash our food down with.  While water is always a good healthy option, I think we can find some other options.  We have a nice light iced tea option or, if you'd prefer, some nice hot tea.
Marisol:  Is that a pot for the hot water?
Rowan:  It sure is.  It's another TRe-mentous product.  Once you've used the ac/dc cord to heat up your water, you unplug it and leave it on this heating element which keeps it hot up to an hour.
Marisol:  No reheating necessary if I'd like another cup?  I love that.
Rowan:  Me too.  It looks like you also have another classic drink to suggest.

Marisol:  I sure do.  There's nothing like a glass of milk, especially for the little ones and with your dessert.  Let me pour a glass to remind you of how good a glass can be.

Marisol:  Doesn't that look delicious.  Don't forget, it's great for bones and growth.
Rowan:  It's great with chocolate in it too.
Marisol (laughing):  I've heard it's good that way.  I think we have covered everything.  What do you think, Rowan?
Rowan: I'm thinking that although we're trying to keep our time in the kitchen quick and short, we are still alone and it's quiet.  It would be nice to have some company.
Marisol: You are so right, what do you suggest?

Rowan:  I'm glad you asked.  I think a small, portable and easy to move television will do the trick.  It doesn't matter which counter I'm using to cook, I can move it with me.  I can use it plugged in or on the battery life as long as I've charged it.

Marisol:  That's a great idea.  I could use the company.
Rowan:  Me too.  Can you believe this is yet another TRe-mentous product?  They make some awesome kitchen items.

Well, that went off without a hitch.  I guess Rowan and Marisol got over being nervous.  We'll see how the business is affected and we'll see if they hire anyone so they can handle any increases.

    1. Barb, I am addicted to Re-ment. I found another set I bought, but never showed. I have to stop purchasing so much stuff (as if that will happen). I barely get a chance to showcase them in stories.

  4. Well, first of all, I am so impressed by the level of detail in your photostory!!! I'm a little out of the loup where "Re-ment" is concerned. Is that where you buy your food items. Or are making some of the items yourself. (Partially peeled fruit and cakes cut in half is simply mind-blowing here!!!) In any case, great job!!!!

    1. Thank you, April. I do buy most of my food items from Re-ment. I love their quality. All of the items in this post are from a full set of Re-ment which recently came out. I'm trying to work on making my own food from polymer clay (started with air dry to build sculpting skills) next year.

    1. Thank you, Phyllis. I seem to be addicted to Re-ment, but not so much the character ones unless they have great items and the characters don't stand out so much (like the dinner rolls).

  6. They did really good on their first segment! I hope that they are about to secure a permanent segment on there. They food looks delicious. I have not seen that Rement set beofre. Great details and dialogue! Loved it as slways!!
